We will enjoy the fun of water as we play outside, explore water science and even learn about water conservation and quality. Week 1 - Specialty Camp: Harry Potter (June 10-14)Not Attending7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMJoin us for a week of wizarding fun as Redwood becomes Hogwarts. We will make potions, dream up fantastic beasts, drink butterbeer and even play Quidditch. Week 2 - Arts and Crafts (June 17-21)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMCreate and play in our hands-on, process (and often messy) art camp! Campers with have the chance to create their own masterpieces using all sorts of loose parts and recyclable materials. We will create our own Redwood Art Gallery to give campers a chance to showcase their talents! Week 2 - Specialty Camp: Robotics (June 17-21)Not Attending7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMJoin us for an action packed week of robots, drones, coding and more! Students will learn basic coding, build drones and work collaboratively on the LEGO EV3 robot. There will be exciting new gadgets and activities to challenge their minds and their creativity. Week 3 - Game On (June 24-28)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMGet ready, set, go! This week, our campers will have the chance to learn to play both indoor and outdoor games of all kinds! Our older campers (rising 3rd-6th graders) will take a field trip to Breakout Games, while our younger campers will participate in a special in-house experience. By the end of the week students will be able to show off a game of their own creation! Week 4 - Animal Planet (July 1-5, no camp July 4)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMWe are going wild during this week of camp! Learn about animals, play animal-themed games, enjoy animal-themed songs and snacks. For our older campers,research and extended learning will be a part of this week. Campers will even have the chance to watch part of a live safari! Week 4 - Specialty Camp: Junior Counselor (July 1-5, no camp July 4)Not Attending7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMLearn to be a leader! At this specialty camp, our older campers will learn the basics of interacting and engaging with younger campers, learn basic first aid, and what it takes to be a leader. Part of their day will be spent with a camp group assisting the camp teacher, and leading activities for the younger campers. We will end the week with a special graduation and receive a certificate to recognize their success. This is a great opportunity for older campers who enjoy working with younger children and also great experience to have on hand for future babysitting jobs! Week 5 - Color Wonder (July 8-12)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMLearn about the colors that brighten our world. Explore colors in nature and those that are created. Create art, experiment with color mixing, and engage in messy, hands-on color creations! We will culminate this week of camp with a Redwood color run! Campers will receive an additional special color run camp T-shirt! Week 5 - Specialty Camp: Innovative Chef (July 8-12)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMTry something new! This week will be all about trying new things and exploring the wonders of cooking. During the week we will plan, research, go shopping and learn to cook recipes chosen by the campers! *Please note, this is a half-day specialty camp. If you select the full-day or full-day plus option, your camper will join the rest of the camp after 11:30, for more camp fun! Week 6 - Mad Scientist (July 15-19)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMGrab your lab coat and don't forget your safety goggles (provided at camp)! This week we will be exploring everything science! From making slime to creating elephant toothpaste and exploding volcanoes, campers will have the chance to become a "mad scientist”. Week 6 - Specialty Camp: Outdoor Adventures (July 15-19)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMGet ready for a week full of adventure! This week, campers will learn the basics and safe practices of archery, fishing and hiking. We will take a trip to a surrounding park to try out their new found skills at the end of the week. Week 7 - Space (July 22-26)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PM3, 2, 1...BLAST OFF into Space! Our campers will have the amazing opportunity to explore outer space! They will take a field trip to the EKU Planetarium where they will have a chance to learn about and explore the planets. Campers will have a blast learning about the galaxy! Week 7 - Specialty Camp: Drama (July 22-26) Not Attending7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMStudents will harness their creativity through theatre and improvisation games, and then utilize their new imaginative skills to perform a play on the last day of camp. We will learn about the performing elements of drama (acting, empathy, character development, projection, non-verbal expression) and explore the technical elements of drama (scenery, props, makeup, costumes, lighting, sound). While preparing for our performance, we will experience the rehearsal process and get hands on experience in the technical design process of their play. Week 8 - Engineering Extravaganza (July 29-Aug 2)Not Attending7:30 AM-11:30 AM7:30 AM-3:30 PM7:30 AM-5:30 PMBuild, build, build! We will provide the materials and the campers will provide the creativity. Build with recycled materials, have a special visit from a local architect who will help campers create blueprints, and test our your creations by putting them through a variety of challenges. Older campers will build and experiment with robotics. Camp culminates with a field trip to Newton’s Attic for full day campers.
